SCION reached out to me & asked if I wanted to head up to Northern California to capture some “Behind the scenes” coverage of the first ever Scion FR-S commercial shoot to twitter, Facebook & Blog…

Scion FR-S

I was hired to MC the event aka “hypeman” at a very cool event!

Yep, the Scion FR-S version of the 2WD, some have called the ToyBaru, now deemed the Toyota GT-86 in Japan and Europe and the Subaru BR-Z chassis but in North America it will be the FR-S and it’s SICK!
I’m deeming this car the “Game Changer” I mean it’s RWD, almost 200hp, cool looking & should be priced respectfully….

So follow me to LA to see the Scion FR-S reveal…

After spending only 12 hours back home in AZ after returning from Jakarta, Indonesia I’m off…
to Vegas for another annual installment of the SEMA SHOW…

I’ve been attending since 97 or 98 I think, + I even met my wife at SEMA 12 years ago this SEMA!

Flying into Vegas from AZ you get to see the “mega bridge” and also the Hoover Dam where Megatron was held captive, haha

Ford & Ford Racing hired me for the week to MC, announce and heckle attendees to come experience ‘Ford Out Front’ which had the 4 different drivers that are part of the Octane Academy, Gittin Jr., Block, Deegan & Foust…

The 4 piece “man band” called Octane Academy, no musical instruments or singing here just loud pipes and attitude!

The final day of SEMA…

Friday walking into the show I saw somebody who looked familiar as he was inspecting some paint samples at a booth, yep it was him…
I introduced myself to him and long story short I met, had a lengthy conversation about drifting, cars, North Idaho, design and some other odds & ends including animals throwing poop.

His name is Tinker Hatfield an icon in the shoe world, his impact on the footwear world and even the progression of modern shoes and fashion in general is overwhelming…
People aspire and have even been compelled to say “I want to be Tinker when I grow up”
I’ve admired Tinker from a distance and his work. As I grew up a lover of unique sneakers before it was a REAL cash cow, I admired cross trainers, Agassi’s, Flights, Air Max’s, Bo Jacksons but I admittedly NEVER owned a pair of Jordan’s but many unique Nike’s and have said that the Jordan V’s are my favorite because of the clear sole and lace lock, all the kids in my middle school basketball team had them, yet I didn’t play basketball so didn’t want to front!
Regardless I grew up with Nike’s on my feet and my favorite pair of Nike’s I probably have today are Air ZOOM Havens but in all black! But of course have others on ice…

Long story short I met Tinker Hatfield, nice guy, invited me to the campus and of course I invited he and his associates to attend anything I’m involved with especially a shotgun ride in a Formula DRIFT competition vehicles…

Street Life Tour, has come & gone this year 2011, it was a blast thanks to the ZeroLift Autolab fellas especially Mike for having me, great driving, fun off track antics and just a good time in Xenia, OH!

Didn’t wanna leave Charlotte after I flew over this awesomness…

GAME DAY Saturday at Street Life Tour, I hooked up James Evans for the Sikky Fabrication team with a New iPhone4 Incipio case and a HOONIGAN sticker TIRE KILLER because he literally did kill some tires on track at this event, he made the MOST smoke for real!!!
James ended up getting 2nd in the event, he drove the best I’ve seen him drive over the years for sure!

Scion sponsored the event so they had an event called Scion Exposed with a gang of Scions even having them join the TOP16 on track for opening ceremonies, was cool…

If you live in North America including Canada now you know the brand Scion, ya know the xB, xA (now retired), tC, xD and now they and I present to you the Scion iQ…
Rolling out in waves across the country, Beginning October 1st on the west coast, then Texas, Florida and the southern area Jan 1st, East Coast Feb 1, 2012 then Central states March 1st…

Being invited to Manhattan Beach, CA for a special event to debut the car meant yeah a nice backdrop, setting, weather, food and more but in all honesty it’s cool to see something unique and new like the Scion iQ before most others see it or even drive one…
First of all thanks Scion and the respective team for having me…

1st stop on the educational Scion iQ tour a super rad 4D film, that you will want to see.. Yeah I said 4D, smells, shaking and more…
Featuring artwork with artists like Sage Vaughn, Franki Chan, Ana Serrrano and more

Next stop a preview of what’s called Scion iQ Museum Project, an online museum; it’s going to show case some imagery, stories and more initially featuring East LA Chicano punk scene in the late 70′s to early 80′s, Detroit’s Strata Records + Producer Prince Paul & lastly rapper Big Daddy Kane

Received a tour of the Scion iQ with Brian & Kenny…
They spoke about 6 design innovations or manufacturers firsts!..
#1 Forward mounted differential versus rear frees up space in the footwell inside the car…
#2 High mounted rack & pinion assembly again more space!
#3 Fuel tank is under the drivers seat and only 5″ tall holding 8.5 gallons at 37 miles per gallon which is THE SINGLE BEST GAS MILEAGE in the industry outside of hybrids + on 87 octane!
#4 Air Con components are usually near the glove but not in the iQ making the cabin space larger it’s moved! Shrunken 20% and placed in the center dash console!
#5 Asymmetrical seating position the driver is further back than passenger so you can fit 4 if needed!
#6 Thin back of the seat design allowing for 2″ more inches in a car that’s only 10 feet long!!!!

Get ready here’s my blog from my trip to Norway for the crazy event called Gatebil at Rudskogen…

You are who you surround yourself with…
I feel and know I am who I am due to the fact that I’m surrounded by amazing people, my friends, family and all of the people I interact with, so first of all THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

I write this blog with a heavy heart and honestly tears running down my face because the world lost an amazing person that i consider a VERY good friend of mine. You might know him as the public knows him as a “JACKASS” but I know him as a great friend, partner to his lady Angie, brother and so much more…
He is seriously one of the funniest guys I know!
An avid car enthusiast, evidence by his BMW roundel tattoo, piston tattoos on his hands and his passion for cars…
He just recently acquired a Porsche GT3 that he loved and was stoked on driving it, that same car he crashed to his ultimate passing when he crashed in Pennsylvania. He and his friend died on the scene…

All I can think of is his laugh, his knack for amazing jokes and one liners hes always “trying out” and of course the loss that his put on so many of us…
I love you Ryan and miss you but we’ll always have the good times!

So I say that with the tone that I’m so thankful for all of you that have surrounded me over the years, currently and in the future…
Please find humility, grace and strength, life is NOT all about YOU! It’s about everyone else and how it effects you…
I love all of my family & friends, thank you for being part of my life and helping me become, learn and understand who I am…
